PCVG Mixed TEAM League Rules

  1. Unless specified otherwise, the PCVG Mixed TEAM leagues will use the USA Pickleball Assoc rules as published.
  2. Time outs – Each pair of players in a game shall have 1 Timeout, thus 4 timeouts in 4 games.  The duration to be 1 minute or as agreed upon by the 2 captains concerned.
  3. In the event of an on-court injury, play will immediately cease (just as if “BALL ON COURT were shouted”), and assistance rendered.  The ongoing point will not be played to conclusion.
  4. In the event of an injury to a scheduled player, the captain may make a brief (2 minute) inquiry to determine if there is an observer on the sidelines that is on the sub list, and is appropriately rated, and willing to sub.  If a sub is not available, the captain must specify to the opposing captain the rotation of players on the team.  For example:  Each Monday team has 4 male and 4 female 3.5 rated players.  If a male 3.5 was injured at the conclusion of game 1, the remaining 3 male players rated 3.5 would each sub 1 game for the injured player.  The order of substitution was provided to the opposing captain.  If the injury occurred after game 2, the captain would provide the names and order for the 2 male 3,5 rated players that would be subbing.  If a sub were only needed for a single game, the captain would select 1 of the 3.5 players on the team to sub.    Note:  In the Monday league, if the injury was to a 4.0 rated player, the captain would select a 3.5 rated player on the team to sub.  If a sub were needed for more than 1 game, the captain would use the same method of subbing described above for a 3.5 sub need.  Specifically, the captain would provide the names and order of the 3.5s to be used as subs for the 4.0 injured player.
  5. Any matters that occur whereby captains require a decision, the league commissioner, or designee of the commissioner, shall determine resolution.
  6. A team may NOT use the same sub two consecutive play days, nor may a sub be used more than twice in a season by any team.  This prevents a team monopolizing the use and availability of a strong sub to the detriment of opposing teams.   Note: Two weeks separated by a holiday is still two consecutive play days.  If a captain has a person scheduled to sub, and that play date is rained out, that same sub may be used the following play date (assuming a sub is still needed).
  7. When seeking a sub, captains may only select from the Sub Availability Table of the league.  Additionally, captains must select from subs color coded GREEN (Available).  If a captain exhausts the list of GREEN coded sub players, only then may the captain communicate with players coded YELLOW on the sub availability table, for the date concerned.
  8. Once a sub is used in a match, he/she can only return to that match. The only exception is an injury or legitimate illness. If you put a sub in your mixed match, the player you take out can only go back to that mixed match. The sub can only return to the bench and cannot go into any other match other than the mixed match (with the one exception noted).
  9. Subs must be rated appropriately to the league, and their rating must be listed on the PCVG website (pickleballcommunity.com) rating page — during the league signup window.  Subs may only be selected from the league Sub Availability list on the league website. PBSS.mygamesonline.org, is the Monday league website, while PB30.mygamesonline.org is the Tuesday league website.   Note:  At any time during the season a sub achieves a higher rating than what he/she opened the season with, that sub will continue to play under their initial rating.  The following season, the new rating will go into effect.  If a sub is re-rated from a 4.0 to a 4.5, that sub will no longer be eligible for the following season.
  10. Once a sub commits to play for a team on a specific date, the sub must honor their commitment and play for that team.
  11. Once a sub has committed to play on a specific date, the captain securing the sub is required to update the sub availability chart.
  12. A player may NOT play (Sub) for a different team without the agreement of both captains.
  13. The ramifications of any of the league rules will be determined by the league commissioner.
  14. SAFETY:  In order to participate in PCVG pickleball leagues, participants are required to wear – 1.  proper footwear, i.e., athletic/court shoes, and – 2. eye-ware protection, i.e., glasses or frames that are glassless, but designed to protect the player’s eyes.
